While many artists settle for merely creating new music, Milwaukee lyricist, Jon Briggz, decided to expand his creative vision by spearheading a movement. Dismissed by individuals who misunderstood his party-centric vibe and perceived indifference to society, the emcee banded together with friends and family members who shared his unique outlook on the world to form an unstoppable underground juggernaut called We R The Lost. The ultra-talented collective then gathered to craft new material in the studio. The game-changing album, “Still Lost,” bears the fruit of their labor.
“I’m Spotted”(produced by DerelleRideOut)LUNGES out of the speakers with incredible live instrumentation and Jon’s smooth flow. It’s a music lover’s dream! Listeners will get pissed off because the track ends so quickly…but, hands down, it’s the best intro I’ve heard in a VERY long time. “New Black” serves as a strong follow up with the lyricist pouring his soul into a cut that promises to shake up the clubs while “Gold” offers a clever spoken word piece about the illusion of love. The Nova produced “Say The Word”(ft. T. Harris)adds an R & B influence to the mix as the emcee rhymes about a girl who “can’t get enough.” The Mister Mammoth produced “Still Got Love” then slinks in with some high-powered soul.
“X”(featuring Charlie Brigante)is a blistering account of some good, but mostly bad memories associated with an ex(of course). Jon’s description is so vivid that listeners will have flashbacks of their own bad relationships. You might need a therapist after listening to the song…but it’s worth it! “The Times”(ft.Bill Ro$e)showcases the lyricists flexing intricate rhyme schemes while speaking out against racial profiling. The Wonya Love produced “Influence”(ft. Slim Ali)is perfectly designed for radio with lush grooves and an irresistibly melodic hook. “Lost”(ft. Sir Castro)keeps the momentum going with a sinister, slow-riding bassline that projects a feeling of imminent danger while “You Made It” perfectly sums up the completion of the project with more power-packed instrumentation from the band. We R The Lost win with this palette of sonic gems. Listeners may not have been familiar with Jon Briggz’s crew before…but what was once lost has now been found on this impressively solid collection.
