The UMC’s: Staten Island’s Forgotten Sons (Documentary Trailer)

Dream Different Media along with The UMC’s (Haas G and Kool Kim) with Boo and Sarah Hartman Evans present the trailer for “The UMC’s: Staten Island’s Forgotten Sons” Documentary.

The UMC’s emerged onto the scene as the first Staten Islan rap group. They went on to become the first rap group out of Staten Island to appear and perform on Soul Train and the first rap group out of Staten Island to chart at No.1 on Billboard twice. 30  years later and the duo is still talked about in Hip Hop and music conversations. In a recent interview Kanye spoke about using all his allowance to purchase the ‘Fruits of Nature’ cassette tape and will.i.am appeared star-struck when he mentioned being a huge fan of The UMC’s and the impact they had on his career. Let’s not forget on the set of Martin you can see a lifesize poster of the group right on the living room wall.

The trailer highlights the influence The UMC’s had and continue to have on Hip Hop as a culture and movement. Watch the trailer below and stay tuned for the full documentary.
