Third Man Records’ 1st Hip Hop artist Shirt takes “Flight Home” [video]

Hip Hop Music Video

The poster child for indie record labels, Third Man Records, comes through with their first Hip Hop signing. The eclectic label run by grassroots rock titan Jack White has been known to push the boundaries of the indie music industry space by championing ground breaking vinyl configurations and embracing the roots of Blues with deep catalog elaborately packaged collections. Third Man has dabbled in Hip Hop through one-off special releases, including wax titles for Jay Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” and his multi-genre soundtrack for the “Gatsby” film. As well, they released a live LP by former Digable Planets alum Shabazz Palaces. Now, the label is stepping into the rap game with the signing of NYC emcee Shirt. The news comes with the release of the “Flight Home” music video featuring the rapper rocking on the top of a truck through the streets of New York City. – I. Vasquetelle
