Last Sunday’s Video Music Awards was unique in that it lacked that special MTV element…controversy. Everything went off without a hitch. Rapper, Angel Haze made her red carpet debut with Alec Baldwin’s daughter, Ireland and was joined by a multitude of celebrities as they entered The Forum in Inglewood, California. There were no live anacondas lurking in Nicki Minaj’s performance(which helped her backup dancers breathe a sigh of relief). She even received a few congratulatory comments backstage from Iggy Azalea(her supposed rival)after a “wardrobe malfunction” occurred during her set with “Bang Bang” partners, Jessie J & Ariana Grande.
Speaking of Ariana, the rumor mill has been going crazy about a romance between her and rapper Big Sean – especially since the two were spied by the MTV cameras holding hands backstage. Miley Cyrus had a homeless man(who reportedly has a warrant out for his arrest after violating his probation for criminal trespassing) accept her trophy for Video of the Year. Beyonce received her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award(presented to her by Jay-Z and daughter, Blue Ivy)and did some presenting of her own, after the awards show, when she granted Nicki Minaj a “Flawless” necklace as a thank you for the Young Money rapper’s appearance on Miss Carter’s remix of the same name. See, some people in the industry DO give back.
