Baron Von Alias isn’t just thinking outside the box on “Buck Rogers.” He’s thinking centuries ahead.
The Newcastle upon Tyne rapper connects with underground hip-hop veterans The High & Mighty and Copywrite for a rugged collaboration produced by Doc Sus and sharpened by cuts from DJ Mighty Mi.
Featuring verses from Baron Von Alias, Mr. Eon and Copywrite, “Buck Rogers” puts lyricism at the center while wrapping the record inside a science-fiction concept that perfectly suits Baron’s time-travelling persona.
According to Baron, the Doc Sus production immediately inspired the direction of the track. The idea was to create something that made the artists sound not merely ahead of the competition, but so advanced that they’re already operating in the 25th century.
DJ Mighty Mi helps seal the concept with his memorable “They Can’t Think, They Can’t Speak” cuts, giving the track an added dose of old-school turntable energy.
The single serves as another chapter leading into Baron Von Alias’ forthcoming album, Bootstrap Paradox, which explores time travel, connected narratives and full-circle moments.
“Buck Rogers” may take inspiration from the future, but its emphasis on bars, beats and cuts remains firmly connected to the foundations of underground hip-hop.
